13th March - Great Western & a boring long Sunday

Sunday 13th March

Nothing exciting overnight. Some disturbances, but not many.

Woke up at 6, radio and then obs at 6:30. Blood pressure 93/61 and sugars 5. Was starving (blame the steroids) so have not just Ready Brek but also toast for breakfast.

Watched Andrew Marr, some of the Big Question (but that was bed bath etc time) and Sunday Politics. Unfortunately, SP was the London edition as I was watching on the iPad, until Julio suggested that I watch on the actual tv here. This is did, but it was the South edition, not Points West. I‘ll try to find PW on iPlayer later.

Some interesting half conversations from my fellow inmates : “I haven’t got any” “Any what, E?” “I don’t know”

Got out of bed at 10:45 – I am going to try to keep to a proper bed/chair timetable today.
The tv had run out of money yesterday and the free stuff runs out at one, but I have decided not to put any more  money in as it is a complete rip off. I can cope with the iPlayer and the free to 1pm stuff for now, and hopefully that won’t be far too long until I’m in Chippenham. I expect it’ll be the expensive scheme again when I get there.

My pre lunch sugars were 11.3, so higher than yesterday, but still ok. Lunch was minestrone soup, sliced roast beef, lovely mixed roast veg (I’d had those last time I was here and got quite excited when I saw them on the menu) and mash. Apple for dessert.

Back in bed at 2ish and had a snooze (I’ve been doing a lot of snoozing lately), and also some physio. I’ve only done a little bit of physio today. I expect I’ll make it up tomorrow when the physios are back. But I doubt if they will come for the 3 sessions.

Sian and Julio visited and Sian brought my new phone back having done all the settings and apps for me. I haven’t got the hang of it yet and am waiting for a cover that Sian has ordered but will be here tomorrow. Later I had a bit of bother as I was being stupid and couldn’t work out how to put it on silent or make it louder or quieter. Duh! I had another present – Sian brought me a small packet of chocolate buttons. I had two – the first chocolate I have had for a month. I’m sure it’s not allowed, but I don’t care!

Julio worried me a bit by saying what his plan was for getting me to Chippenham quicker. I am hoping that this will not be necessary. Visitors left to go home to make sure all ok and to put Carter to bed after the difficulty Julio had yesterday.

Out of bed at 5 ready for supper – sugars 21. Had mushroom soup, cheese and pickle sandwich  and fruit salad.

Julio came back (Sian seeing to Carter and having a nice relaxing bath) with a lovely present for me – a mug with a really soppy message on it. I have used it to hide the buttons and a secret packet of biscuits I was given with my cup of tea. I may have one in the middle of the night.

We talked about work and plans and stuff and Juli left at 8. I stayed in the chair until 8:45 (M and E were being a bit demanding – fair enough) sugars were 24.3, so still going up and hopefully they’ll start going down again (I blame the extra 2 buttons I had after supper).

Tried to ring Mum and Dad to wish them a good holiday, but had problem getting through and couldn’t hear anything. It’s difficult to talk as everyone else is quiet and E answers everyone else’s conversation. I’ll try to call before they leave again tomorrow.

So, in bed, listening to Money Box on radio 4 (at least the radio is free all the time).

I’ll ask to be settled some time between 10 and 10.30 – and then we start all over again tomorrow.
